Investment takes many forms – but is never more satisfying than when it includes a human dimension. Over time, a bond has developed between LYNX and its business partner communities, leading to the formation of the charity, LYNX for Hope.
The Charity’s primary focus is medical related initiatives in Africa and Switzerland, among them Second Chance, a non-profit association set up in the aftermath of the U.S. embassy bombing in Nairobi in 1998. Today, LYNX for Hope helps aid advanced reconstructive surgery for adults and children, victims of war or congenital malformations in 15 African countries.
The antenatal and diagnostic capabilities of two teaching hospitals in Brazzaville, Congo and N’Djamena, Chad is also being strengthened by the creation of a Tele-medicine link with the University Hospital of Geneva.
HUG is also a beneficiary. The Foundation is assisting with the renovation of the hospital’s paediatric surgery department and is helping to establish an internet platform to support children undergoing liver transplants. Medical staff will be able to monitor the progress of their young patients post-operatively, minimising the need for frequent clinic-based appointments.
LYNX is also actively involved in Serengeti Arts, an initiative to nurture and promote indigenous art in West Africa and CIS. It also sponsors the Diables Noirs (Black Devils) football team in Brazzaville.
